Shifter Boots

A truck shifter boot is often the last thing on your mind. It’s a background item and often overlooked, even when it’s falling apart. Yet, there’s a few reasons to be sure it’s both sound in structure and appearance. Check out our wide selection of leather, vinyl and rubber boots for many models of trucks.

Aesthetics Count

You spend around a third of your life in the cab. A run-down interior has been shown to impact driver’s moods and some studies seem to indicate it can impact your earnings. The shifter boot cover feels like it would be unimportant, but it’s often at least in the corner of your eye, and a worn-down one stands out like a sore thumb. And inspectors definitely notice the condition of your truck – they seem to associate keeping a sharp rig with staying within the regs, and that counts when you’re 50 pounds over your limit.

Your Gear Shift Needs the Boot to Survive

Your shifter gets a serious workout in an average day. The gear box and shift mechanism must be kept free of foreign debris. It doesn’t take much dust and as little as one piece of outside material to wreak havoc on the components. Once small cracks start showing up, it should be replaced. Any gap is likely to allow dust to start accumulating inside, and as the gap grows the danger increases.

Boots Can Be Made of Leather, Vinyl or Rubber

Rubber is the most basic type and tends to be used for ribbed boots. However, a leather or vinyl semi truck shifter boot often adds a more luxury feel to your cab. Either way, if it’s showing signs of wear you should replace it.
