Walcott Truckers Jamboree Celebrates America's Truckers!
WALCOTT, IOWA -- Is it any surprise that the World’s Largest Truckstop also hosts the biggest trucking party of its kind? The 26th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, will be held July 14-15, 2005 at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Over 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest, Antique Truck Display; Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker’s Best Friend Pet Contest; Trucker Olympics; Carnival Games and a ferris wheel; two live bands; Colgate Country Showdown music competition; and loads of fun for the whole family! Admission and parking are FREE! Shuttles are provided from the parking area.
“We are very proud to be celebrating America’s truckers on such a grand scale”, says Delia Moon Meier, Iowa 80 Truckstop Senior Vice President. “Professional drivers are the backbone of this country, moving goods where ever we need them. We appreciate them and this is our way of saying Thank You.”
The Walcott Truckers Jamboree began in 1979 featuring a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks. That first Jamboree only attracted a few hundred drivers, a far cry from the 30,000 it attracts today. Even though the size of the Jamboree has changed over the years, you can bet that its focus hasn’t. Celebrating America’s Truckers is definitely what the Jamboree is all about. It is Iowa 80’s way of thanking drivers for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight.
